Sanaz R.

Sanaz is a PhD candidate in the department of computer science and a member of Parallel and Distributed Computing Lab at Wayne State University with a passion for research and development in the field of Algorithm and Edge Computing. Throughout her studies, Sanaz has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of complex technical and theoretical concepts and an ability to translate them into practical solutions. Throughout her research, she has focused on a real-world problem “Data Sharing on Edge computing system” where she has applied her knowledge into practical solutions. In her thesis, she has formulated the data sharing-aware task allocation problem that make decisions on task allocation for maximized profit and minimized network load by taking into account the data-sharing characteristics of tasks. In addition, because the problem is NP-hard, she has designed various heuristics algorithms which find a solution to the problem in polynomial time. These academic efforts resulted in publications on international conferences and journals in the area of Algorithm and Edge Computing (IEEE Edge, IEEE Transaction, Symposium on Algorithm, etc). In 2020 and 2022, Sanaz was honored to have been recognized with the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award and the Graduate Research Excellence Award from Wayne State University Computer Science department for her outstanding contributions to the field of Edge Computing and Algorithm. These prestigious accolades serve as a testament to Sanaz’s commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, showcasing her dedication to innovative approaches, and the impact of her research and teaching efforts. Sanaz is also a recipient of more than 5 travel awards and scholarships to present her academic work and share her knowledge in the field. As a future goal and career, she plans to join a national laboratory as a research scientist. She believes that by immersing herself in the dynamic and collaborative atmosphere of a national laboratory, she can advance her knowledge and delve deeper into cutting-edge research.
